Grade 3-4 CERES Excursion |
Two students have written a report on how their excursion to CERES went!
On Tuesday the 24th of march we went to CERES and it was fun. When we got there we put our bags down at the fire place and then we had something to eat. I had some of my BBQ shape and it was yum. Then we were split into groups. Then we started our activities and I was with Joe’s group first. I learnt that when the rain falls on the rubbish, the rubbish breaks down and turns into sludge. The sludge goes into rivers and then goes out into the ocean. That means that we eat sludge with our fish that we eat.

On Tuesday 24th March the grade 3/4s went on an excursion to the CERES environment park in Brunswick. We travelled by bus. On the bus it was so noisy! When we got to the Environment Park Two Helpers came to tell us about the activities we were going to do. First Group 1 went with a man named Joe to do some learning about recycling and composting. Our first activity was to see what rubbish can do to the oceans and rivers. Joe told us in two months Melbourne’s amount of rubbish could fill up the MCG!! That’s a lot of rubbish! Our next activity with Joe was to guess how long it would take for the rubbish to break down and be gone. Glass takes ten thousand years to break down! Group 2 with Linda. We sang some songs about worms. Linda loved our worm song and wants to have the words so every school that comes will sing the song! Our next activity with Linda was to put on some gardening gloves on and get a metal spoon and dig around in a garden and find some creatures. The creatures. The creatures you could find where worms, compost beetles, ear wigs, slaters and many more! Deanna and I worked together. Together we found three worms and a slater! It was extremely hard to find anything because half of every grade 3-4s was there! After that we had lunch and went back on the bus, back to school.
